about

Fountain Penn Daytona Beach, Florida

Acoustic folkster Freddie Wilson has been on some sort of self-appointed coffee house renegade since the Summer of '06 when he first adopted the "Fountain Penn" moniker. This young songwriter thrust himself eagerly into the local music scene. Armed with a "Do It Yourself", "three chords and the truth" mentality, Fountain Penn regularly captivates his audiences with simplicity and sincerity. ... more

Track Name: The World is Crying Out
When I was younger I began to doubt the famous song
the love you take, the love you make are not the same at all

Far away, the violent hate and all of it's grenades
are burning down and firing rounds of bullet hurricanes
What's the cost of lives we lost? They're all tragedy to me
Is it pride? Is it dollar signs? I smell hypocrisy

Sometimes it's right when you think it's wrong
to read the writing on the wall
The truth got flipped around when the planes wen crashing down
Now the world is crying out

Children learn about the world, they ask about God above
Yeah, you taught them how to judge but did you teach them how to love?
Wasn't that the battle cry when all of this began?
No matter what God he bows, a man is still a man

Sometimes it's right when you think it's wrong
to doubt what you're taught when you are young
The truth gets flipped around when the pages get town out
Now the world is crying out

To all the bureaucracy, I hope one day they see
that peace is not "Surrender, on your knees"
Look closer, it's not hard to see past the race and religion card
A person is just the person they are
Track Name: The Other Side
We took the backroads straight to disaster, leaving safety far behind
We were bums and we were bastards, we were the kids from the other side

We brought out knives and brought our matches, gave 'em hell and burnt 'em down
We had an evil love attraction, we were the kids from another town

Can't judge a man for where he's been, darling, darling
Won't you try, won't try to understand the circumstance?

Waging war is all we've known, praying to the gods below,
give us strength to be on our own, we're not the kids that you want to know

I've got no reason to stay alive, I've got my peace and a 45
I'm going to live up until I die, we're not the kids that you're going to like

Can't judge a man for where he's been, darling, darling
Won't you try, won't try to understand the circumstance?

I took the backroads straight to disaster, I left safety far behind
I am a bum and I am a bastard, I am a kid from the other side
